I have (for shame) only read one Austen novel - Pride & Prejudice - and that was sometime in middle school. I've known for a long time that this is a serious gap in my BIR and I've dubbed 2010 as the year of Austen. This novel will be a real treat to conclude! Thanks so much for sharing!bashtreehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15865739589835039440noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5447574405650512339.post-55677339705874970102009-12-19T20:37:24.037-05:002009-12-19T20:37:24.037-05:00I listened to this book about a year ago and reall...I listened to this book about a year ago and really enjoyed it. It was fun and entertaining and it didn't feel like the author was trying too hard to imitate Austen. I've got the sequel downloaded onto my ipod and hope to be listening to it soon.Melissahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07464480044976775637noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5447574405650512339.post-13529062891239311142009-12-19T17:55:20.941-05:002009-12-19T17:55:20.941-05:00This sounds very like the BBC drama Lost in Austen...This sounds very like the BBC drama Lost in Austen, which was very entertaining. I don't read many Austen spin offs but I do really like the work of English crime novelist Reginald Hill and I loved his homage to Austens last work Sanditon, in Britian and Australia it was published as A Cure for all Diseases, I think it may have a different title in the US. I loved that one, Austen with violence and humour lots of humour.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5447574405650512339.post-40029182977531695502009-12-19T13:04:15.645-05:002009-12-19T13:04:15.645-05:00OK, I usually hate Jane Austen spin-offs but this ...OK, I usually hate Jane Austen spin-offs but this sounds too cute. As a Jane Austen fan and a sucker for time travel stories, this one seemed right up my alley. I was not disappointed! Such a fun and enjoyable read. It was my first Jane Austen-themed novel and I've since gone on to read quite a few. I'd love to read her sequel, Rude Awakenings of a Jane Austen Addict, which tells the other side of the first story.

Other Austen inspired books I've enjoyed: Austenland, The Other Mr. Darcy, Jane Austen Ruined My Life, and The Lost Memoirs of Jane Austen.

Laura Hartness
The Calico CriticLaura Hartnesshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03105906576784171388noreply@blogger.com
