And now I'm reading American Sniper and perhaps this is a typical guy read too. thecuecardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08870323589682197091noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5447574405650512339.post-55118563869353362202015-01-25T09:04:33.576-05:002015-01-25T09:04:33.576-05:00My sons always stop for science fiction. We have to urge our boys at school to chose a fiction book now and then; they always go for the nonfiction.

http://readerbuzz.blogspot.com/2015/01/trees-and-thieves-and-twinkie-pie.htmlDeb Nance at Readerbuzzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12128529491888701996noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5447574405650512339.post-24255885538304558522015-01-21T12:04:58.715-05:002015-01-21T12:04:58.715-05:00Hi Enbrethiliel for stopping by and joining the co...Hi Enbrethiliel for stopping by and joining the conversation!

Jerry Spinelli is a new one for me, but I'm making a note here about that for those "young" men on my list. I LOVE the James Bond take or the "All man" stereotype. We might even go as far as how close our guy feels like James Bond or such.

But on a serious note, I like your grandfather's selections. Non-fiction seems the route to go and is so diverse. And world history is something I did not think of. It's a shame that his eyesight started to fail.

Thanks for sharing! In the MG/YA genre, Jerry Spinelli and Rick Riordan were the best bets.

To be more general about it, I'd say that a book is a "guy read" in direct proportion to the resemblance between its main character and James Bond. (Or if the main character is a Ted Moseby type, then the resemblance between his best friend and Bond. LOL!) But I'm admittedly going by stereotypes here.

My grandfather was a big reader before his eyesight started failing him, and he really liked non-fiction about world history and politics, as well as bios of famous people from fields as diverse as IT and entertainment.
